How to write AI prompts for looping video game background music?

Describe mood, instruments, tempo and exact bar length, and explicitly ask for a continuous loop with no intro, outro, or fade. But the loop itself is enforced in code: set AudioBufferSourceNode.loop = true, not by the AI tool.

At a glance

Fact Value Source
loop property default value false developer.mozilla.org
loop change during playback takes effect next audio block developer.mozilla.org
SOUNDRAW downloaded tracks stay published only if subscription active soundraw.io

A prompt controls the mood and texture of the track; it does not control the loop itself. Write the prompt with four things: mood/genre, instrumentation, tempo (BPM), and an exact bar/measure count specifying bar count, tempo, ambient synth pads, no drums, and asking for a continuous loop with no intro, outro, or fade in or out. Many AI music tools still render a fixed audio file with a natural fade at the start or end, so treat the prompt as step one and the code as step two.

If you use an AI coding agent, Playgama MCP lets it upload builds and publish a sandbox link to playtest audio in-browser.

How do you make the loop continuous in a browser game?

  • Load the track into a Web Audio AudioBuffer and set AudioBufferSourceNode.loop = true on the source node; the default is false, so it must be set explicitly (MDN).
  • If you change loop while the track is already playing, the new value takes effect on the next processing block (MDN).
  • Trim silence and any fade at the exact loop point yourself in an audio editor before shipping the file – do not rely on the AI export being loop-safe.
  • Check the tool’s license before publishing: SOUNDRAW’s Creator plan covers background music in video games, but a downloaded track only stays usable while the subscription is active unless you modify it first (soundraw.io/license).

Test the loop point on mobile browsers specifically – autoplay restrictions and audio decoding delays can expose a click at the seam that desktop playback hides.

Should I loop the whole song or a short section?

Prompt for a short bar-count loop (a few bars) rather than a full song; short loops are easier to check for a clean seam and easier to layer or crossfade in code.

Can I publish an AI-generated loop commercially?

Check the specific tool’s license page – terms differ on whether a downloaded track stays usable after your subscription ends, and whether modification is required for some uses.
