Finding Sniffer Eggs
Before you can breed sniffers, you need to obtain at least two of these ancient mobs. Sniffers don’t spawn naturally in the world – instead, you must find their eggs in ocean ruins. These eggs are hidden in suspicious sand blocks that you’ll need to brush carefully with an archaeology brush.
Ocean ruins generate in all ocean biomes, both warm and cold variants. Look for structures made of stone bricks, sandstone, or prismarine blocks on the ocean floor. The suspicious sand appears as slightly different-textured sand blocks within these ruins.
Hatching Your First Sniffers
Once you’ve collected sniffer eggs, place them on moss blocks to speed up the hatching process. On moss, eggs hatch in about 10 minutes, while on other blocks it takes 20 minutes. The egg will crack progressively before a baby sniffer emerges.
Baby sniffers take 48,000 ticks (about 40 minutes) to grow into adults. You can speed this up by feeding them torchflower seeds, which reduces the remaining growth time by 10%.
Breeding Adult Sniffers
Adult sniffers can be bred using torchflower seeds. These seeds are obtained when sniffers dig up torchflower seed pods from dirt, grass, or related blocks. Simply hold torchflower seeds and right-click on two adult sniffers to put them in love mode.
After breeding, sniffers have a 5-minute cooldown before they can breed again. The breeding process produces a sniffer egg rather than a baby directly, so you’ll need to wait for it to hatch just like the original eggs you found.
Setting Up a Sniffer Farm
Create a contained area with plenty of dirt or grass blocks where your sniffers can dig. They’ll periodically sniff around and dig up either torchflower seeds or pitcher pods. Both items are useful – torchflower seeds for breeding and pitcher pods for crafting pitcher plants.
Make sure your breeding area has enough space, as sniffers are quite large mobs. A fenced area of at least 10×10 blocks works well for a small breeding operation.

TL;DR
Find sniffer eggs in ocean ruins, hatch them on moss blocks, then breed adult sniffers using torchflower seeds they dig up from dirt blocks.
