Several scenes show garden settings framing the tile columns, and in one view the columns are arranged against a lush green backdrop.

How to Play Mahjong Relay: Garden Solitaire — Complete Nine Columns Before Your Rival

Each turn, tap a valid column to place the current tile at its top. When a motif appears for the first time, it may claim any open column; after that, every tile sharing that motif returns to the same line. Placing a tile pushes the entire column downward, and the tile that exits at the bottom becomes the next move — and may pass to the rival.

The Golden Tile works differently: while holding it, choose any unfinished column. It stays inside the conveyor until another tile pushes it out at the bottom, at which point the turn crosses to the other garden. Even while the rival is moving, drag your own columns into a new order to prepare for upcoming tiles. Complete all nine columns first to win the match.
