Lantern Alley: Match 3
About Lantern Alley: Match 3 — Heroines, Blockers, and 160 Lantern-Lit Levels
Lantern Alley: Match 3 is a puzzle game built around a cast of heroines whose portraits live right on the tiles. Before each level begins, a heroine is chosen, and her colour shapes every decision that follows — she charges only from her own tiles, so the board reads differently depending on who is active. One scene shows a tile grid populated with four distinct character designs: one with red hair, one with yellow hair and buns, one with blue curly hair, and one with a green hood.
The 160 levels each carry their own goal — score targets, colour clears, breaking crates or boulders, sometimes two objectives at once. Five kinds of blockers stand in the way: a boulder yields only to a direct hit, vine spreads while it is ignored, and honey candies the board. Stars earned in a level convert to sparks, and sparks light twelve lanterns along the path. A single run will not light them all; replaying for that third star is part of the design.
How to Play Lantern Alley: Match 3 — Swap, Charge, and Light the Lanterns
Swaps work up, down, left, and right, and only go through when they form a line of three. A swap that matches nothing costs nothing.
Matches and Power-ups
- Three in a line clears those tiles and collapses the board in a chain reaction.
- Four in a line leaves a power-up that clears a row or column.
- Five in a line produces a rainbow.
- An L or T shape produces a bomb.
- Double-tapping a power-up detonates it immediately — that costs a move, so the choice matters.
Heroine Abilities
- Watch the ring around the heroine's portrait: closed and green means she is ready.
- Tap the ability button to activate. If it needs a target, the label changes to "Where to?" — then tap a cell on the board.
- Abilities cost no move, but only her own tiles feed the charge.
- Each heroine has two abilities; the second unlocks with tenure.
Goals and the Map
- Goals appear in the right-hand column on desktop, or on top on a phone: a picture and a counter for each objective.
- Level goals include score, colour, breaking crates or boulders, and sometimes two at once.
- Stars earned become sparks; on the map, tap the lanterns to see how far the sparks have lit the path.
- One run will not light all twelve lanterns — come back and replay for the third star.
