Tall Grass
About Tall Grass
Tall Grass is a fully turn-based arcade strategy game where every tile of grass conceals a shard, a heart, or a monster. Nothing moves until you do, so you'll find no reflexes to fail — every decision is deliberate. Cleared tiles display a number counting the hidden monsters in the eight surrounding tiles, making each step both a read and a gamble. One scene shows a green-tiled grid with dark green blocks, a gray gate structure, and blue diamond-shaped objects scattered across it.
The tension builds around a single choice: the gate opens before the field is fully cleared, so at any moment you are able to leave with what you have or press deeper for the shards and upgrades you'll need when the Pumpking wakes.
How to Play Tall Grass
Stepping onto a grass tile cuts it down, revealing whatever was underneath — a shard, a heart, or a monster. The number on any cleared tile tells you exactly how many monsters are hiding in the eight tiles around it, giving you the information to decide where to step next.
When you walk into a woken monster, you strike it. If it survives, it strikes back. Managing that risk is central to going deeper.
Every four shards collected, you choose a boon. Fill the shard bar completely and the gate opens. At that point, decide whether to leave with what you've gathered or keep pushing for more shards and upgrades before the Pumpking wakes.
