About Lanternward: Logic Puzzle in the Night Streets of Veldrenmar

Lanternward is a logic puzzle set in the night streets of Veldrenmar, where the goal is to place lanterns until every alley glows. It belongs to the classic Akari ("Light Up") family of deduction puzzles: a lantern illuminates its entire row and column until a rooftop blocks the light, numbered rooftops indicate exactly how many lanterns must stand beside them, and no lantern may shine directly on another. Every puzzle has exactly one solution and can be worked out by reasoning alone — no guessing, ever.

The collection spans 300 graded puzzles across 10 districts, with grid sizes ranging from 6×6 up to 14×14, followed by an Endless Night mode. A fresh daily puzzle arrives every day. Difficulty is measured by the deduction each puzzle demands rather than by a simple label. A colour-blind palette is available, and progress is saved in the browser.

How to Play Lanternward: Light Every Street by Deduction

The objective is to light every street tile. A lantern sends light along its full row and column until a roof interrupts it. Numbered roofs specify exactly how many lanterns must be placed in the four adjacent squares. No lantern may fall within the line of sight of another. Every puzzle has one solution and requires no guessing.

Performance is tracked by time against each level's target, earning up to four stars. Your best times are recorded, and there is never a countdown. Two aids sit beneath the board: Hint places one correct lantern, and Show my mistake marks any incorrect placements. Each costs one star and nothing else.
