Math Crosswords
About Math Crosswords
Math Crosswords swaps letters for numbers, turning the familiar crossword format into a puzzle built entirely from equations. Instead of words crossing each other, arithmetic expressions intersect on the board, and any number sitting at a crossing point must satisfy two equations simultaneously — get it right and both light up green. The game covers addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across a large collection of levels, starting with simple sums and scaling up to bigger grids as difficulty increases gradually. Every level has exactly one valid solution, so there is no guessing your way through. Several scenes show the grid laid out with numbered tiles and intersecting equation rows, giving the board a clean, structured look. A daily puzzle keeps things fresh with a streak to maintain, and speed points, a leaderboard, and achievements add a competitive edge for those who want more than just a quiet solve. Light and dark themes are both available. The whole thing works as a five-minute brain warm-up for adults and doubles as a mental math practice tool for kids.
How to Play Math Crosswords
The board arrives with equations already printed in place, their answer cells left empty. A panel beside the board holds all the numbers available for that level. If a filled cell needs to be cleared, tap it and the number returns to the panel. A completed equation turns green when correct and red when wrong, giving immediate feedback on each entry. The level is cleared once every equation on the board shows green.
A light bulb hint is available when progress stalls — tapping it places one correct number automatically. Solving quickly and without using hints earns the highest score. The built-in tip from the game itself: start with the cells where two equations cross, since those intersections have the fewest possible answers.
Controls
- Mouse (desktop): Drag a number from the panel into an empty cell, or click a filled cell to return its number
- Touch (mobile): Tap a number then tap a cell to place it, or tap a filled cell to send the number back
- Light bulb button: Tap to place one correct number as a hint
