How to Play Chess: Checkmate the Opponent's King

Select one of your pieces, and legal destination squares will typically highlight on the board. Then choose the square where you want to move that piece. Turns alternate, so always wait until it is your move before acting. All interactions go through the board itself—selecting a piece and then its target square is the complete loop of play.
