Reading the Board

Opening a cell reveals either a mine — ending the game immediately — or a number. A number in an open cell tells how many of the eight surrounding cells contain a mine. For example, a 1 means exactly one neighboring cell is mined. Use those numbers to deduce safe cells and mark dangerous ones with a flag.

Chord-Opening Cells

When an open numbered cell already has a count of flags around it equal to its number, selecting that cell opens all surrounding cells not covered by flags at once.
