Find the Village
About Find the Village
Find the Village drops you alone in jungle terrain on the side of a volcano, with no memory of how you got there beyond a trail and a friend who was walking ahead. Somewhere below, villages wait. The challenge is getting to one.
There is no map, no minimap, and no waypoint. Nothing to fight. Navigation depends entirely on reading the landscape: streams run downhill, though not every one leads home; climbing high lets you spot village smoke during the day or lamps after dark; and scattered ranger posts, marked by tall poles with orange ribbons, carry boards that point toward the villages — though some of the lines have worn away. Every run begins at a new starting point, so the route is never the same twice.
Before setting out, pack from a selection that includes a water bottle, snacks, a headlamp, a phone, a machete, and more. Water, food, and energy all need watching on the way down, and steep ground risks a twisted ankle if you push too hard.
Performance is measured against a local guide's fastest route, with stars awarded across 10 levels. Those levels introduce conditions such as nightfall, mist, a dead phone, a view that rotates with you, and the long way down. A cumulative leaderboard tracks total scores.
How to Play Find the Village
The goal is straightforward: find any village at the foot of the mountain. Getting there requires paying attention to the land rather than following a marked path.
Watch streams for a general downhill direction, but verify with higher ground when possible — climbing gives a view of smoke or lamplight that confirms a settlement's location. When you reach a ranger post, walk up to read its board; the note disappears once you move away, so commit the directions to memory before leaving.
At streams, tap Drink to restore water. At wild fruit, tap Eat to restore food. Use Rest to recover energy. Items carried in your bag can be tapped directly to use them. On steep sections, moving carefully reduces the risk of injury.
Finishing close to the guide's time earns 3 stars. The 10 levels each add a distinct challenge — nightfall, mist, a dead phone, a rotating view, and the long descent among them — and your star totals accumulate on the leaderboard.
