Cadenza
About Cadenza: Rhythm Game Built on Real Ensemble Music
Cadenza is a rhythm game grounded in genuine music. Rather than playing along to a backing track, you take one part inside a real ensemble arrangement — the flute in a Bach air, the right hand of a Joplin rag, one violin in a Mozart serenade — while the other instruments continue around you. Every instrument is synthesised live in the browser as you play, so the ensemble responds to what you do in real time.
Gold notes carry the melody; blue notes carry the harmony. The library holds 46 public-domain pieces spanning Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, and Scott Joplin, plus short studies that begin gently and increase in difficulty one step at a time. When none of those suit, drop in any MIDI file from your own collection and Cadenza reads the notes directly from it, working out the melody, harmony, and difficulty levels automatically.
How to Play Cadenza: Hit Notes, Build Combos, Choose Your Part
Notes fall down seven lanes. Press the matching key as each note crosses the line, and hold long notes until they finish. Hitting notes on time builds your combo and raises your accuracy and grade.
Choose to play the full ensemble across all seven keys, or select a single instrument and follow just that one line. To use your own music, load a MIDI file from the menu and Cadenza builds a playable chart from it automatically.
Controls
- A S D Space J K L: Default lane keys for hitting notes
- Hold key: Sustain a long note until it ends
