Downspire
About Downspire: Portrait Dungeon Crawler with Permanent Upgrades
Downspire is a portrait-oriented dungeon crawler built around a single recurring tension: go deeper or get out. Every room presents a genuine decision — read partial route clues, survive combat and hazards that resolve on their own, then choose whether to bank your coins or press further into the dungeon. Milestone bosses mark the path downward, and a leaderboard tracks how far each run reaches.
How to Play Downspire: Read Clues, Survive, and Bank Your Coins
Start by choosing Explore Dungeon from the guild stations, then pick one of three route cards. Each card offers partial clues about what lies ahead. Combat and hazards resolve automatically once a room is entered, so the strategic weight falls on which route to take and what to do after a room clears.
After clearing a room, the core choice arrives: bank your coins now or risk continuing deeper. Banked coins fund permanent upgrades and supplies between runs. Two key items shape survival — a Smoke Bomb lets you escape a fight once it has been revealed, and a Resurrection Stone brings you back after a defeat. Defeating milestone bosses marks progress, and reaching the deepest floor possible earns a place on the leaderboard.
