About Checkers

Checkers brings the traditional and most popular form of the classic board game to your screen. The objective is straightforward: deprive your opponent of any possible move by capturing or locking all of their pieces. Several scenes show an 8×8 grid of alternating light and dark orange squares as the playing surface. Circular white and black pieces are positioned across the board's squares in several views. The background displays dark brown and maroon overlapping diamond shapes.

Checkers move only on dark-colored cells, and the board is always positioned so that the corner field at the bottom left of each player's side is dark. A simple checker strikes both forward and backward, while a queen walks and hits any diagonal field. During a capture sequence, a simple checker can promote to a queen mid-battle and immediately continue the fight under queen rules. When multiple capture options exist, the player may choose any of them.

How to Play Checkers

A simple checker advances diagonally forward by exactly one square per turn. The queen moves diagonally to any free field in both the forward and backward directions, but cannot jump over friendly checkers or queens. The goal throughout is to eliminate or block every opposing piece until the opponent has no legal move remaining.
