How to Play 4x4 Chess

The goal is to capture the opponent's King; the moment you take the enemy King, you win instantly.

Place or Move Your Pieces

Each turn, choose between placing a new piece from your side bench onto any empty square of the 4x4 board, or moving a piece already on the board according to standard chess movement rules.

Pawn Promotion

Advance a pawn all the way to the opponent's furthest row and it automatically promotes to a Queen.

Difficulty Scaling

Win matches to level up — as your level rises, the AI adapts its behavior, restrictions change, and board themes evolve.
