Tic-Tac: Evolution
About Tic-Tac: Evolution
Tic-Tac: Evolution takes the familiar tic-tac-toe grid and stretches it into a continuous run that climbs from a 3 by 3 board all the way up to 10 by 10. After clearing the largest board, the cycle resets — the grid shrinks back down, but the AI opponent grows stronger and any deals chosen along the way carry forward. One scene shows a dark square grid with five horizontal and five vertical spaces. The game sits at the intersection of puzzle and arcade, rewarding players who can read a shifting board and manage risk across an escalating series of stages.
As the run progresses, the board does not simply grow larger — it mutates. Blocked cells, row shifts, mark decay, and other rule changes alter the playing field mid-run, keeping each stage distinct from the last. A leaderboard tracks best stages so progress can be compared against other players.
How to Play Tic-Tac: Evolution
The goal is to form lines of X marks before the AI does, while protecting a limited supply of lives across an ever-expanding sequence of boards.
Win Conditions by Board Size
- On 3 by 3 and 4 by 4 boards, three X marks in a row are needed to win.
- From 5 by 5 onward, the requirement increases to four X marks in a row.
Progression and Cycles
- Winning a stage expands the board to the next size.
- After winning on the 10 by 10 board, a new cycle begins: the grid resets to small but the AI becomes stronger.
- Deals chosen during a run continue to shape subsequent cycles.
- Losing a match costs one life.
Deals Between Stages
Between stages, a deal must be chosen. Every deal provides a genuine advantage alongside a risk or restriction — you'll find no free upgrades, only trade-offs that compound across the run.
Board Mutations
As the grid expands, the rules themselves shift. Blocked cells, row shifts, mark decay, and other mutations alter how the board behaves, changing the challenge beyond simply filling a larger grid.
