The Last Lantern
About The Last Lantern: Top-Down Survival Roguelite in a Night Forest
The Last Lantern drops you into a dark forest where hordes of creatures surge out of the shadows every run. The goal is singular and urgent: keep your lantern alive for 20 minutes until dawn breaks. Movement is your only direct input — weapons fire on their own — so every decision comes down to positioning, build choices, and how well you string upgrades together before the next wave hits.
Three maps give each run a different stage to navigate, and a difficulty selector lets you tune the pressure. More than 40 lantern keepers are available to unlock, each arriving with a distinct starting build that shapes how a run unfolds from the first seconds. Because upgrade cards are drawn randomly and weapon evolution depends on what you max out, no two runs follow the same path.
How to Play The Last Lantern: Survive Until Dawn
Weapons attack automatically throughout the run, so the core task is staying alive through smart movement and smart leveling. Collect light gems dropped by enemies to fill the XP bar. Each time the bar fills, three upgrade cards appear and one must be chosen — it can be a new weapon, an upgrade to an existing weapon, or a passive boost. Stacking compatible weapons and boosts into a coherent build is what separates short runs from dawn victories.
When a weapon has been fully upgraded, opening a chest evolves it into a stronger form. Hearts scattered across the map restore health. The run ends in victory at the 20-minute mark when dawn arrives; surviving that long is the win condition.
