About Scuffbury Rovers: Arcade Football with the Worst Club in the Valley
Scuffbury Rovers puts you in charge of a village football side so charmingly inept that the captain runs a shop, the goalkeeper works at the library, and the striker cuts hair for a living. Matches are four-a-side on a muddy green, last roughly two minutes, and stretch to two and a half for cup ties and title nights. Barnaby and Dolly provide commentary throughout, while Reg blows the whistle.
A full season runs 35 fixtures across the Sunday Scratch League, the Valley League, and the County League, with the Marrow Cup woven in along the way. Fifteen rival clubs stand between Scuffbury and glory, and every fixture card displays one to five boots so the difficulty of each opponent is clear at a glance. Grounds come with slopes, ponds, and short pitches; the weather shifts to rain, wind, fog, and frost; and some fixture cards post a house rule that changes the match conditions.
Ten villagers make up the squad — four available from the start, six more joining as the season progresses. Three rosette challenges on every fixture offer rewards of kits, crests, balls, and celebrations. Winnings go toward 30 upgrades for the ground, ranging from fresh paint on the lines to floodlights, a tea urn, and a bus. Difficulty can be set to Easier, Normal, or Pro at any point. A daily mode called Today's Tie presents a new twist against a touring side, the same challenge for every player on that day. Two players may also share one screen for a friendly.
How to Play Scuffbury Rovers: Score More Than the Other Village Club
The objective is straightforward: outscore the opposing village side before the final whistle. The squad runs, passes, and tackles across the four-a-side pitch, with shooting handled by holding and releasing rather than a single tap. Far from goal, the kick action runs with the ball; closer in, it shoots instead.
Difficulty — Easier, Normal, or Pro — can be changed at any time from the pause card, which also holds the Rules page and a save code. The pause card is reached via P or Esc.
