About Lantern Canals: Sliding-Path Puzzle in a Lantern-Lit Water Garden

Lantern Canals is a relaxing sliding-path puzzle set in a lantern-lit water garden. The goal is to slide stone tiles into position, building a canal from the spring to the harbor gate, then watch the water flow and your paper boat sail the route you created. One scene shows square tiles containing teal segments and red lanterns arranged on a light-blue surface framed by a stone border. In another moment, a red wooden torii gate structure sits atop one of the central tiles, surrounded by a white glowing ring.

Every level hides three lanterns along the path, and a shortcut exists that finishes the level quickly but leaves those lanterns dark — so planning the route before connecting it is part of the puzzle. The game spans 100 levels across five gardens, from Moss Steps to Moon Harbor, and adds a new daily canal to keep a streak going.

How to Play Lantern Canals

The core challenge is sliding stone tiles to form a continuous canal from the spring to the harbor gate. Three lanterns are hidden along each level's path, and choosing the shortcut route skips them, so the path you plan determines how many lanterns you collect. Work through 100 levels across five named gardens — Moss Steps to Moon Harbor — and tackle a fresh daily canal to maintain your streak.

Controls

• Drag a stone toward the gap: slides the tile into the empty space; a short flick also works
• Tap a stone next to exactly one gap: slides that stone into the gap
• Tap a gap: slides in its only movable neighbour
• Arrow keys / WASD: slides the stone on the far side of the gap in that direction (sliding-puzzle style)
• Z / Backspace: undo
• R: restart
• H: gives a hint
• M: mutes
• Esc: closes a panel
• Enter / Space: advances to the next level on the results screen
• Toolbar — undo, restart, hint, skip: skip appears after 90 seconds or 2 restarts
