About Katana Hero
Katana Hero casts the player as a living katana traveling from a bamboo grove to a volcano forge, cutting through everything in the way and growing sharper with every slash. The journey spans five worlds, each unlocked by defeating a boss at the torii gate. Enemies signal their threat level at a glance: green ones are weaker than the katana, red ones are stronger. Bosses are enormous blades — a cleaver, a machete, a greatsword, a nodachi, and a scythe — and each one that falls joins the squad, spinning around the katana as a permanent companion.
The katana sharpens itself even while away, and a broken blade returns to the shrine with all its power intact. At the forge, the blade, guard, and handle can each be changed across six materials: steel, damascus, jade, fire, ice, and gold.
How to Play Katana Hero
Movement steers the katana across four map shapes — a trail, a ring around a lake, a fork, and a plateau. The blade slashes automatically, hitting everything close in a half circle in front of it. Bamboo makes the katana tougher, whetstones make it sharper, and defeated knives, sabers, and hatchets grant both. Spend coins at the forge using the anvil button to change the blade's appearance and materials.
Reading Enemy Attacks
Before an enemy strikes, it draws back and turns red. Stepping away in time causes the attack to miss. Before a boss strikes, a red zone lights up on the ground, marking the area to avoid.
Defeating Bosses and Progressing
Each world's boss waits at the torii gate. Defeating it opens the next location and adds that boss blade to the spinning squad around the katana.
Controls
