How to Play Hearts Online
The Goal: Score the fewest points. Every heart = 1 point. Queen of Spades = 13 points. Avoid them. Or take all 26 ("Shooting the Moon") to reverse the damage. Simple rule. Brutal execution.
Card Passing Phase
Before each hand starts? Pass 3 cards to your neighbor. Direction rotates every round. Left. Right. Across. Then no pass. This is where you set traps. Dump high hearts. Get rid of the Queen. Or feed your opponent poison.
Trick-Taking Loop
Two of Clubs always leads. Follow suit if you have it. No suit? Discard anything—hearts, spades, whatever bleeds points. Highest card in the lead suit takes the trick. Critical: You cannot lead hearts until hearts are broken (someone discarded one). No hearts on the first trick either.
Strategy & Timing
Watch what gets passed. Track the Queen. If someone takes the Ace of Spades early, they're fishing for the Queen. Use low clubs and diamonds to duck out of dangerous tricks. Got stuck with high spades? Play them fast before the Queen drops. Pro move: If you collect all hearts + Queen = 0 points for you, 26 for everyone else.
