Grand Mahjong is classic mahjong solitaire built around 100 hand-crafted layouts that grow steadily more tangled as you progress. The goal is straightforward: clear every tile off the board by tapping matching pairs, one at a time. The pace is unhurried and tactile, with each pair you remove opening up the next possible move so the stack slowly comes apart beneath your hands.
Two tile art styles — Classic and Simple — are available and switchable at any time. A green textured surface with a large embossed floral pattern appears across several views of the game. In one scene, white rectangular tiles are arranged in vertical columns stacked into an H shape, giving a sense of how the layouts vary in structure.
Progress carries across devices, and the whole thing runs in the browser on desktop, tablet, and phone without any download.
How to Play Grand Mahjong: Clear Every Tile Off the Board
Tap one tile, then tap its match to remove the pair. A tile is in play when nothing is stacked on top of it and at least one of its left or right sides is open. Tiles buried under another tile or hemmed in on both sides must be freed before they can be taken. Flowers and seasons follow a special rule: any flower matches any other flower, and any season matches any other season, exactly as in the tabletop game.
Every layout is dealt from a solvable arrangement, so an impossible board is never on the table. If you strand yourself, a shuffle re-deals the remaining tiles back into play.
Scoring and Grades
- Every pair removed scores points.
- Chaining matches without a mistake builds a combo that raises the value of each subsequent pair.
- A wrong tap resets the combo.
- Clearing the board banks your score and shows how close you came to that level's maximum.
- Each level is graded against its own maximum, making a 100% run a distinctly different challenge from simply finishing.
Hints, Shuffles, and Undo
- The hint button points out a matching pair when you are stuck.
- Shuffle re-deals all tiles still on the board.
- Undo steps back through your matches as far as you like.
- Optional tile highlighting dims any tile that cannot currently be taken.
