Move through the city on foot or by car, visit local companies, and take on practical automation contracts solved by arranging visual code blocks — no typing and no prior coding experience required. Each solution runs in a live simulation, so the feedback is immediate and hands-on. Earn money and career XP, unlock new tools, and gradually build a life around the programming skills you develop along the way.
How to Play Dev Life: Explore, Contract, and Code
Follow the goal marker to Byteworks to land your first job. Open a company's job board, choose a contract, and drag blocks beneath PROGRAM to construct your solution. The Details & Hints section explains exactly what the task requires. Hit Run to preview the logic, Test to check it against the requirements, and Submit once the tests pass. Cash and XP accumulate with each completed contract, unlocking more jobs and tools as your career grows. The ? button opens the full in-game guide whenever you need it.
