Deep Drill
About Deep Drill: Mining Idle Game That Plays Itself
Deep Drill is a mining idle game where the drill is already turning the moment the page loads — no home screen, no setup. The bit descends on its own, cutting through rock and paying ore for every metre it travels. There is no timer, no lives, and no way to lose. The well keeps producing while you read the panel, and it keeps paying while the tab is closed.
Ore is paid per metre rather than per second, which means a harder layer is automatically both slower and poorer. Eight strata stack beneath the surface, each harder and poorer than the one above it. The well decelerates as it goes deeper, and that resistance is the whole point of the game. Several scenes show a vertical drill with three rotating bits descending through brown, grey, and purple-speckled geological layers. A vertical depth scale ranging from 700 to 3200 is visible on the right side of the drilling area in multiple views.
How to Play Deep Drill: Get Deeper with Every Sealed Well
Every input in Deep Drill is a purchase — the drill descends by itself, so there is nothing to steer or aim. The goal is simply to get deeper. There is no time limit and no way to lose, and time offline keeps paying ore within the night shift's window.
Rig Upgrades
Twelve rig tracks are what ore gets spent on. Each track targets a specific part of the operation:
- A bigger bit for speed
- Coolant to cut the rock's hardness
- A wider hopper for richness
- A night shift that makes returning tomorrow worth more
Sealing the Well
When progress slows to the point it is no longer worth continuing, the Salvage action seals the well. Depth, ore, and every rig level reset to zero, and the deepest point reached pays out in cores. The payout is superlinear, so one deep run always beats two shallow ones.
Core Nodes
Twelve permanent core nodes never reset across seals. Cores earned from a sealed well are spent here. Named nodes include speed, hardness liners, an old-workings charter that fast-forwards the shallows already drilled, and a foreman that buys rig levels automatically while you are away.
Surge
Surge delivers x3 ore for eight minutes.
Controls
- Mouse or touch: make purchases — the drill descends automatically, so all input is directed at buying
- Row's price key: buy one level of a rig track
- Mode key: switch between Buy x1 and Buy max, which spends the entire affordable ladder at once

If the idle loop of Deep Drill appeals to you, the broader idle games category on Playgama is a natural next stop, and the arcade games section covers faster-paced alternatives when you want something more hands-on. For another idle game built around industrial production chains and permanent crew upgrades, Ashfall Industries lets you grow a wasteland operation from a single pump into a full industrial network. Harvest Haulers shares Deep Drill's tap-to-upgrade loop, here applied to a fruit farm where gold funds faster belts and bigger trucks. The MachinEGG is a relaxing idle clicker with automation systems and a replayable structure that rewards coming back for deeper runs. If offline earnings and a growing empire are what keep you engaged, Idle Island Tycoon: Sea Empire keeps your fleet earning gold even when the tab is closed.
