Backrooms Escape 1 drops you into an endless maze of yellow rooms where the smell of wet carpet hangs in the air and fluorescent lights buzz overhead. According to the legend woven into the game, this place is structured across levels and floors — and you find yourself stranded on one of them, with survival and escape as your only goals.

The dread here comes from two directions: the monstrous loneliness of those yellow walls stretching on without end, and the monsters that may be lurking somewhere within them. Several scenes show the characteristic yellow-walled corridors lit by overhead fluorescent panels. This is a one-player horror escape built around stealth, caution, and the creeping fear that something is close.

How to Play Backrooms Escape 1: Survive and Escape the Levels

The objective is straightforward but unsettling — find a way out. Look around carefully, stay aware of your surroundings, and use every tool the game gives you. The TAB key surfaces your current objectives so you always know what you're working toward, and E lets you interact with objects in the environment. Q closes any open menu. Running is possible but requires holding left Shift alongside your movement keys, so you are able to push the pace when you need to.
