How to Play They Are Coming
Start by choosing a mode. Each one offers a different relationship with defeat and experimentation.
Defense Mode
In Defense mode, you return to the orphanage and must hold it against escalating zombie hordes. Each day brings a new wave, so strengthening your position between attacks is essential. Weapons and tools are purchased from the administrator and used to build up your defenses. The core construction work involves placing barricades, turrets, and traps to fight off incoming hordes. Losing everything upon defeat is a real consequence here.
Sandbox Mode
Sandbox mode unlocks all items from the start, letting you build defensive structures and experiment with tactics freely. There is no threat of defeat, making it a practical space to learn the game and test different strategies before committing to them in Defense mode.
