Blockway: Hold to Open is a color slide puzzle built around one sharp mechanic: some gates stay shut until a block is physically holding down their pressure plate. Drag a block onto the plate and the gate opens; move it off and the gate slams shut again. That single rule turns every board into a sequencing problem — which block stays behind as the anchor, and how do you free it last?
Blocks glide in four directions until something stops them. Line a block up with a gate that matches its color and is wide enough to fit, and it slides off the board. Clear every block to solve the puzzle. Arrow blocks add a further constraint, sliding only along the axis their arrow indicates. New shapes, arrow blocks, powered gates, and power-ups each arrive with a short guided lesson as play progresses.
Three endless difficulty tracks — Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert — sit on the home screen, and switching between them is always open. A Daily Challenge delivers one fresh board each day with one attempt. Progress saves automatically, and the game runs in nine languages.
How to Play Blockway: Hold to Open — Clear Every Block to Solve
The goal is to clear every block off the board. Slide a block in any of the four directions and it travels until it hits an obstacle. When it lines up with a gate that shares its color and is wide enough, it exits the board.
Shut gates are powered: a glowing wire connects each one to a pressure plate on the board floor. Park a block on that plate and the gate opens; the moment the block leaves, the gate closes again. The puzzle becomes choosing which block to use as the anchor while the others escape, then freeing the anchor last.
Arrow blocks move only along the direction their arrow shows, so their paths are fixed from the start. Undo any move at any time, or restart the puzzle entirely.
Power-Up Usage
- Hammer: tap the power-up, then tap a block to smash it off the board
- Color Bomb: tap the power-up, then tap a block to blast every block of that color off the board at once
- Wild Gates: tap it, then confirm with Use — a block of any color can leave through any open gate it fits; tap again to cancel; cost applies only when a block actually uses it
- Master Key: tap it, then confirm with Use — every shut gate unlocks until a block escapes through one, no plate needed; tap again to cancel; cost applies only when a block actually goes through
Controls
- Left mouse button drag / finger drag: slide a block up, down, left, or right
- Tap power-up, then tap a block: activate Hammer or Color Bomb on a chosen block
- Tap Wild Gates or Master Key, then tap Use: confirm activation; tap again to cancel
- Undo button: reverse the last move
- Restart button: reset the current puzzle
- Home button: return to the track chooser
