About Grand Mahjong
Grand Mahjong is classic mahjong solitaire built around 100 hand-crafted layouts that grow steadily more tangled as progress advances. The goal is straightforward: clear every tile off the board by removing matched pairs, one at a time. The pace is unhurried and tactile, with each pair removed slowly unraveling the stack beneath it.
Two tile art styles — Classic and Simple — are available and switchable at any time. Combo scoring rewards clean, uninterrupted runs, and each level carries its own maximum score, making a push for 100% a meaningfully different challenge from simply finishing the board. Achievement chests, level grades, and cross-device progress sync round out the experience. Grand Mahjong runs in the browser on desktop, tablet, and phone with no download required.
How to Play Grand Mahjong
Select one tile, then select its match to remove the pair from the board. Two tiles match when they show the same face. Flower tiles are the exception — any flower matches any other flower — and the same rule applies to season tiles, exactly as in the tabletop game.
Which Tiles Are Playable
A tile enters play when nothing is stacked on top of it and at least one of its left or right sides is open. Tiles buried under another tile, or hemmed in on both sides, must be freed before they can be selected. Turning on tile highlighting dims every tile that cannot yet be taken, making the available moves easier to read at a glance.
Scoring and Combos
Every matched pair scores points. Removing pairs consecutively without a wrong tap builds a combo that raises the value of each subsequent pair. A wrong tap resets the combo. Once the board is cleared, the final score is banked and measured against that level's maximum.
Getting Unstuck
Every layout is dealt from a solvable arrangement, so an impossible board is never served. If progress stalls, the hint button points out a valid matching pair. Shuffle re-deals all remaining tiles on the board. Undo steps back through previous matches with no limit on how far it can reach.
