Hot Barrel Cats is a merge-tower-defense game where a squad of cats holds a wall against the Mildews — a damp fungus horde marching down the road toward your gate. The core tension is heat: every cat on the wall fires automatically, but sustained fire builds up burn time, and a cat that exhausts its bar jams and goes silent until it cools. Managing that heat cycle is the whole game.
The Mildews come in five varieties, and three bosses each attack your heat rather than your health directly — one bursts and heats every pad at once, one raises a shield that wastes your fire, and one keeps summoning reinforcements while you rotate your roster. Sixteen hand-tuned levels give the threat room to escalate, and a new daily challenge refreshes the pressure every day.
One scene shows a row of four cats in different headwear — including a headband and a hoodie — each holding a blue hand-held device.
Only cats positioned on the wall shoot. The bar beneath each cat tracks its burn time; when that bar empties the cat jams, stops firing, and must cool before it can work again. A cat firing above 80% burn scorches spore-carriers before they can splash heat back at your wall, so keeping fresh cats in position matters.
Don't let the Mildews reach the gate — when the gate falls, the level is over.
If the merge-and-defend loop in Hot Barrel Cats appeals to you, Merge Defense: Army Behind the Wall delivers the same buy-and-merge rhythm with archers and mages holding off monster waves across multiple worlds. Chicken Merge 2 swaps cats for a feathered army that you train, merge, and position to stop endless enemy waves. For a wheeled twist on the same formula, Merge Cars: Defense has you combining identical vehicles into stronger defenders to protect your base from advancing enemies.
