Fruit Mahjong is a mahjong solitaire game built around a fully rotatable 3D board. Juicy fruit tiles are stacked into layered arrangements in front of an ancient jungle temple, and the pair you need might be sitting on the far side of the stack. Orbit the board a full 360°, spot the match, and clear the layer.
One six-minute clock runs across all 50 levels. Clearing each board adds ten seconds to the timer, so the pressure builds the further you go. Matches chain together for escalating scores — the first pair in a streak scores 100, the next 200, then 300, and so on — and the match chime rises in pitch as the combo grows. Break the chain and the multiplier resets. Your best score is saved, giving every run a target to chase.
The goal is to clear the board by matching two identical fruit tiles. A tile is only available if it has a clear side — any tile hemmed in on both left and right, or both front and back, is locked until you clear the tiles around it. Select a tile, then select its match. A wrong pair makes both tiles wobble and stay in place.
To keep a combo alive, land the next pair within about two seconds of the previous match. Miss that window and the multiplier resets to the base score. The run ends when the clock hits zero; clearing a level before that happens adds ten seconds to buy more time.
Two power-ups are available when you get stuck. Hint reveals and clears a matching pair automatically. Shuffle rearranges all remaining tiles into a fresh layout. Each starts with one use; watching a short video earns another. If a run ends, Play Again drops you back at the level you lost rather than at the beginning.
If the timed, tile-clearing challenge of Fruit Mahjong appeals to you, matching games on Playgama cover a wide range of pair-finding puzzles worth exploring. For a deeper mahjong experience, Mahjong Tide offers 55 stages along Japan's historic Tokaido road plus a daily shared puzzle, all built around the same free-tile pairing rules. Mahjong Puzzle: Tile Match shifts the focus to planning rows and columns of identical tiles, rewarding careful layout reading much like spotting locked tiles in Fruit Mahjong.
Fans of the fruit theme will find plenty in Harvest Match, a 50-level tile-matching puzzle where crop tiles drop into a limited basket and three of a kind get harvested. For a different take on combining fruit, Fruit Merge: Juicy Drop Game challenges you to merge smaller fruits into progressively larger ones before they overflow the container. The puzzle games category is a good next stop if you want more brain-training challenges in a similar vein.
