About Shape Ascent - Roguelite: Strategic Merge Puzzle with Roguelike Cards

Shape Ascent - Roguelite is a strategic puzzle game inspired by 2048, played on a 5×5 grid where geometric shapes merge into ever-higher tiers. Starting from humble Triangles and Squares, the goal is to climb through 13 shape tiers — Pentagons, Hexagons, Stars, Crystals, Essences, and beyond — all the way to the Ascent Crown, valued at 8128. Several scenes show the grid populated with colorful geometric pieces at various stages of a run.

What sets Shape Ascent apart from a straight merge puzzle is its roguelike card system. Every few moves, a choice of Power Cards appears, each carrying Common, Rare, or Epic abilities. These cards — including Score Boosts, Merge Bonuses, Emergency Saves, and Auto-Cleanse effects — permanently alter the current run, and their effects can stack. Milestone celebrations mark progress along the way, and a save system lets a run continue from where it left off. The game is available in 6 languages.

How to Play Shape Ascent - Roguelite: Merge Shapes to Reach the Crown

The objective is to merge identical shapes on the 5×5 grid into higher-tier shapes, ultimately chasing the Ascent Crown (8128). Two matching shapes combine into the next tier when they collide after a swipe or directional move. The board fills with each move, and when no possible merges remain, the run ends.

Power Cards

Every few moves, a set of Power Cards is offered and one must be chosen. These cards carry permanent effects for the run, and multiple card effects can stack over time. Named cards include:

  • Score Boost
  • Star Boost
  • Spawn Block
  • Emergency Save
  • Merge Bonus
  • Auto-Cleanse

Tools and Recovery

The Undo button reverses a mistaken move by spending an Undo charge. The Remove Tile tool, unlocked at Triple Star, lets a specific unwanted piece be cleared from the board. Managing both resources carefully is part of planning each run.

Shape Tiers

The progression runs across 13 tiers, beginning with the lowest shapes and climbing toward the Ascent Crown:

  • Triangle
  • Square
  • Pentagon
  • Hexagon
  • Star

  • Ascent Crown: the ultimate tier, valued at 8128
