Iron Defense drops you into a one-screen defense shooter set in an industrial scrapyard. Waves of junk robots march in from the right, and your job is to hold a turret mounted on a scrap wall long enough to survive all 100 stages — then keep going in an endless climb beyond that. Several scenes show the scrapyard's rusted, industrial character rendered across the battlefield. The pace is relentless: each stage is a contained fight where the wall either stands or falls.
Between the raw shooting and the ability system, Iron Defense layers in a resource economy built around salvaged gold and crystals, giving each run a satisfying loop of combat and preparation.
Each stage tasks you with destroying every incoming robot wave before the wall falls. Hold down on the field to fire the turret continuously at the advancing robots. Alongside direct fire, three abilities — fire, ice, and lightning — can be dragged onto the field and released to cast; releasing on the button itself cancels the cast instead.
Abilities draw from an energy pool that refills over time. The + button offers an immediate refill in exchange for crystals when you need energy fast.
After each stage, the UPGRADES screen lets you spend the gold and crystals you've salvaged. Four distinct things can be upgraded:
Work through the 100-stage campaign, which includes boss encounters along the way. Clearing stage 100 unlocks Endless mode, where a fully upgraded defense can be pushed to see how many additional stages it can hold.
