About Cruel Fable: Dark Storybook Action Roguelike

Cruel Fable is a dark storybook-inspired action roguelike built around surviving waves of twisted creatures, collecting gold, building powerful weapon combinations, and shaping your character through upgrades and items. The goal is to choose your weapons, strengthen your build between waves, defeat unique bosses, unlock Hard Mode, complete achievements, and compete on the global ranking.

Several scenes show a play area bounded by a low wooden picket fence and a row of upright wooden stakes. Dense evergreen trees with needle-like foliage and dark brown trunks border the left and bottom edges of those same scenes.

How to Play Cruel Fable: Survive Waves, Build, and Defeat Bosses

Each run asks you to survive wave after wave of enemies, collect gold from fallen foes, and spend that gold on upgrades between battles. Defeating bosses drives your progress forward. Hard Mode unlocks after defeating King Slime for the first time and features timed survival waves with continuous enemy spawning.
