How to Play Yatzy Offline
Your goal is simple: Score the highest total across 13 rounds. Each turn? Roll five dice. Pick keepers. Reroll the rest. Match combinations on the scorecard. Upper section needs matching numbers. Lower section? Poker hands. Straights, Full Houses, and the holy grail: Yatzy—all five dice showing the same number.
The Roll Loop
Tap the blue ROLL button. Five dice tumble out. See something good? Tap dice to lock them—golden frames mark your picks. Hit ROLL again. Locked dice stay put. Others reroll. You get three rolls per turn max. Choose wisely. After the final roll, tap a category on the scorecard. Points get recorded. Next round starts.
Scoring Strategy
Upper section first. Fill Ones through Sixes by collecting matching dice. Get 63+ points here for a 35-point bonus. Lower section demands patterns. Three of a Kind. Four of a Kind. Full House (three + pair). Small Straight (1-2-3-4). Large Straight (2-3-4-5-6). Chance accepts anything. And Yatzy? Five identical dice = 50 points. Roll a second Yatzy after scoring the first? Instant 100-point bonus. Rolling five sixes is peak dopamine.
Lock & Gamble
Early rounds? Play safe. Grab easy points in the upper section. Middle game? Hunt for Straights and Full Houses. Final rounds? Risk it. Chase the Yatzy. Don't waste high-value slots on weak rolls. Use Chance as a dump category for bad luck. Lock pairs early if you're fishing for Three of a Kind. Ignore temptation. Stick to the plan.
