About Escape the Monster
Escape the Monster drops you at the bottom of a monster's lair with fifty floors of maze between you and the surface. Each floor holds one exit, and the clock is always running — the longer you linger, the faster the monster moves. Four distinct monsters live in these depths, and each one hunts differently: some chase you directly, some lie in wait, and one walks straight through walls. On the dark floors, none of them are visible. The only warning is a change in the music.
Several scenes show a small orange character carrying a yellow lantern light through the maze corridors. A red triangular figure with wide eyes and two pointed horns also appears within the maze boundaries across multiple views.
Gems scattered through the floors serve as currency for cloaks, lanterns, and masks between runs — though nine items cannot be purchased at all and must be earned through play. Clear all fifty floors and the garden awaits. After that, Endless mode keeps the floors going for as long as you are able to survive.
How to Play Escape the Monster
The goal on every floor is to reach the green door before the monster catches you. Three hearts stand between you and a game over. Every floor cleared moves you one step closer to the surface, and every ten floors brings a safe floor — no monster, just a chance to breathe and spend gems on hearts or unlock new looks for future runs.
Because the monster accelerates the longer you stay on a floor, keeping moving is essential. Some floors lock the exit until you locate the crown first. Some floors give you a mask; if a monster touches you while you're carrying one, it gets stunned rather than costing you a heart.
Reach floor fifty to escape into the garden. Endless mode unlocks after floor nine and runs indefinitely — the only measure that matters there is how deep you get on the leaderboard.

Items and Collectibles
- Gems: collected on each floor; used to buy hearts on safe floors and unlock cloaks, lanterns, and masks between runs

- Nine special items: cannot be bought — must be earned
