The Sniffer is a large, gentle creature that was added to Minecraft in the 1.20 Trails and Tales update. This ancient mob won the 2022 Mob Vote, beating out the Rascal and Tuff Golem to become part of the game.<\/p>\n

The Sniffer’s main purpose is to help you discover new decorative plants by sniffing out ancient seeds. When placed in your world, this friendly mob will wander around and occasionally put its nose to the ground, searching for buried treasure.<\/p>\n

    How to Get Your Own Sniffer<\/h2>\n

    You can’t find Sniffers roaming around naturally. Instead, you need to:<\/p>\n

    1. Find Sniffer Eggs<\/strong> in underwater ruins using archaeology brushes<\/li>\n
    2. Hatch the egg<\/strong> by placing it on moss blocks (20 minutes) or regular blocks (40 minutes)<\/li>\n
    3. Wait for it to grow<\/strong> – baby Sniffers take another 20 minutes to become adults<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Sniffer Behavior and Care<\/h2>\n

      Sniffers are incredibly peaceful mobs. They won’t attack anything, and nothing attacks them either. They move slowly and methodically, making them perfect companions for builders who want a calm, helpful presence in their world.<\/p>\n

      You can breed Sniffers using Torchflower Seeds, and they’ll follow you if you’re holding these seeds. They’re also quite large – about the size of a ravager – so make sure you have enough space for them to roam and sniff around effectively.<\/p>\n
